This symposium will describe the design and evaluation efforts of two interschool collaborative programs recently implemented in the NYC Department of Education (DOE), the Learning Partners Program (LPP) and the Showcase Schools Program (SSP). It includes a paper describing the evolution of both LPP and SSP, with a focus on the central office’s role in utilizing interschool collaborative learning in school improvement; a paper focusing on SSP and the results from year one; a paper that presents the formative evaluation design and overarching findings on initial implementation of LPP; and a paper that presents findings from three in-depth case studies of schools involved in LPP.
