CALL FOR PAPERS

Please be sure to read all information below for the 2016 ARCE Annual Meeting prior to proceeding with your abstract submittal.

 

THE DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION IS JANUARY 8, 2016

 

ARCE members who wish to present papers, panel proposals, or graduate students who want to present a poster at the 2016 Annual Meeting of ARCE in Atlanta, Georgia should submit abstracts to the Review Committee electronically via this site no later than January 8, 2016. The Review Committee will be comprised of scholars in both ancient and modern Egyptian studies. Submission topics consist of the following categories, and if applicable, subcategories:

 

  • Ancient Egypt

    • Archaeology (includes Archaeological Sciences; Bioarchaeology; Field Reports)

    • Language and Literature (includes Literature; Philology [grammar]; Text Studies)

    • Art and Artifacts (includes Art; Art History; Museum Collections; Objects)

    • History

    • Religion

  • Ancient Nubia

  • ARCE Programs

  • Conservation (includes Project Reports; Techniques; Training)

  • Historic and Modern Studies

    • Coptic Studies

    • Medieval to Ottoman Egypt

    • Modern Egyptian Culture and Society

  • History of Egyptology

 

Submission Guidelines:

  •  All submitters must be members of ARCE in good standing. If you are unsure of the status of your ARCE membership, please contact membership@arce.org or call 210-821-7000.

  • Abstracts must not exceed 250 words.

  • Submissions must be received by midnight (12:00AM, PST) January 8, 2016. Late entries will not be considered.

  • All submissions will be vetted by the Review Committee.

  • Your submission (and any subsequent acceptance) of an abstract is a commitment by you to present your paper in person at the Annual Meeting.

  • Submitters will be notified, via email, by the Committee regarding the acceptance or rejection of their abstract by February 5, 2016.

  • All presenters must provide their own funding to attend the Annual Meeting.

  • All presenters must pre-register for the 2016 Annual Meeting by February 19, 2016; registration information can be found on ARCE’s website, www.arce.org/annualmeeting. Failure to register by the February 19th date will result in the removal of your paper, panel, or poster from the program.

  • No individual may present more than one paper, panel, or poster.

  • Co-authors and co-presenters must be defined in All Academic when submitting your abstract.

  • Papers may not be presented by anyone other than the author.

  • All submissions must be in English.

 

Priority will be given to professionals and advanced graduate students (post Master’s level). Graduate students are invited to propose a poster. When submitting your abstract, please be aware that the program for paper and panel presentations for ARCE’s 2016 Annual Meeting will begin Friday, April 15th at 8:30am and will conclude on Sunday, April 17th at 1:00pm. If your paper is accepted, you may be scheduled at any point during the program. Requests for presenting on a specific day will be granted for religious reasons only. Such requests must be included in the Special Requests section of your submission.

 

Beginning January 9, 2016, you will not be able to access your abstract information. However, you will still have access to edit your contact information via this site.
