61st Annual Convention | 14th Annual Festival of Media Arts
Welcome to BEA2016!

Once again, BEA’s annual convention will be co-located with the NAB Show in Las Vegas. We are returning to the Westgate - from Sunday, April 17 – Wednesday, April 20. As always, we’ll be announcing special events and speaker information as it becomes available.

The BEA2016 Convention Spotlight is….. Content is King: Storytelling Across Platforms

It’s no surprise that technology is constantly changing how we produce and receive media. However, no matter the platform or technology, without content, there is no media. This year's theme goes back to the idea that content is still king, no matter how it’s dressed up in technology. At the heart of everything … is the ability to tell a great story. So how do we create and teach the next generation of media professionals to be great storytellers? What should we be researching or thinking about to help foster creative storytelling across multimedia platforms? This year, we want to know who is telling good stories and how they’re doing it across and through different platforms, how you’re teaching or doing this in classrooms and what we can do to make sure that the content doesn’t get lost in the presentation but both work together to bring our stories to life.

Content is King: Storytelling across Platforms serves as a spotlight for the convention, but panel and papers are not limited to this area of research and discussion. Panels and Papers should be submitted to the division that best fits the goals and objectives of the interest division(s) (descriptions are listed on the submission site).

Each division selects up to six papers for presentation at the convention - four for presentation and two as alternates. In addition, a few papers may be selected by divisions for consideration in the Scholar-to-Scholar poster session.

Membership & Convention Attendance
To enter a paper competition, you do NOT need to be a current member, but at least one (1) author of an accepted competitive paper MUST attend the BEA2016 convention to present the paper. Winners will be notified by mid-January, 2016. If you have questions regarding the submission process, please email the appropriate Interest Division contact person/paper chair.
