Student Learning Outcomes Assessment - Financial Accounting

Abstract

The project is an accounting 101 project for a service and merchandising organization (Redmon Consulting, Inc). This is a comprehensive three part (either group or individual project) which students use knowledge acquired in Financial Accounting I to analyze and record financial data; to prepare the financial statements for a service enterprise, as well as demonstrate an understanding of accounting for assets/liabilities.

It is estimated to take 10 hours to complete although others needed more time. The project was distributed with three specific due dates, approximately one week after completion of a related chapter.

The project has a communications skills portion whereby students need to organize financial information in ledgers, to prepare financial statements (using Excel) as well as report on the financial condition of the business. The project is consists 3 parts and can be used for either individuals or groups
