MyGPCloud’s TeleCloud Case for an Accounting Information Systems Course

Abstract

This presentation will demonstrate a case that increases students’ understanding of enterprise systems by applying course concepts in an active-learning setting. Specifically, students build on previous course knowledge by using MyGPCloud, a Microsoft Dynamics GP system offered in the cloud by Rose Business Solutions. The case consists of five main parts and integrates internal controls and exercises within each part of the case.

Upon completion of this case, students will understand the basic functions of accounting information systems. Activities require students to collect and process data, provide useful information for decision making, and identify internal controls within the system. In addition, the students will gain hands-on experience using an enterprise system and acquire skills that transfer to other enterprise systems or to upgraded versions of Dynamics GP.

Each part of the case includes videos, Power Points, and exercises. This presentation will highlight the learning objectives for each part of the case and provide some sample instructional materials and exercises for selected topics within the case.

We have included materials for the first part and some materials for the second part of the case. We are reviewing and revising the remaining parts of the case for use in Fall 2013 by three accounting professors; hence, we will have the complete case available at the Midwest meeting in October.
