Session Submission Type: Panel
The increased use of emerging technology is not without risks. This panel will discuss the risks that organizations face when implementing and using technology such as RPA, Cognitive RPA, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence. The panel will address what educators should include in their accounting courses regarding emerging technology risk as well as areas where further research is needed.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Identify the risks of using emerging technologies
2. Identify the skills new graduates need to be able to identify and mitigate risks
3. Identify potential research topics related to emerging technology risks that are relevant to practice and industry.
Ideally, the panel will consist of 3 people from industry/practice and 2 faculty members. I will reach out to my contacts at KPMG, PWC, EY, Deloitte, and Protiviti in Chicago to identify potential panelists either from the Chicago office if they are willing to travel or from their NYC offices. I will also reach out to faculty that research in this area.
