Wilson Drilling Inc. (Wilson) is a leading Canadian provider of contract drilling rigs and well services to the oil and gas industry. This case study exposes students to financial reporting of physical assets impairment, changing accounting method for depreciation and reporting of deferred income taxes in a real world situation. Through the case requirements, students are asked to prepare journal entries, provide revised financial statements and make proper accounting policy recommendations. This case is suitable for use in undergraduate Intermediate Accounting and graduate level Financial Accounting classes.
