This paper is a problem-based learning case that provides a framework for investigative skills, using the setting of a fictitious warehouse and a theft that could only have been conducted by one or more of a small set of employees. The setting includes a discussion of breakdown of physical controls over inventory. The case is intended to provide a framework for developing interviewing skills when documentation is not informative or conclusive. Actors are used to help emphasize the need to overcome projection and confirmation bias in interviewing.
