This poster session will showcase an innovative use of technology designed specifically for accounting education by an accounting educator. Its primary goal is to ensure a tight fit between content and process to engage students in meaningful active learning experiences.
The proposed technology takes the homework and testing management system for accounting to the next level. It offers solutions to limitations in existing homework management systems. It also includes new techniques and capabilities to make the experiences richer for students and more efficient for instructors, including guided feedback and immediate results. It does this in a visually appealing, user-friendly interface that is responsive to a generation of students who expect instant access to information, appealing multi-media formats, immediate results, and real-time feedback.
The technology is uniquely designed to accommodate the specialized formats and vast array of problem types that are typical in accounting courses. In particular, it is capable of handling long, integrated problems efficiently in terms of space, load time, layout, design, workflow, and interconnectivity.
Samples from an interactive eBook that complements the technology will also be displayed.
The resources presented are particularly applicable for teaching and learning in the online environment and are currently used by the presenter, who has taught accounting courses online for eight years and is a certified Quality Matters online course reviewer.
