Accounting Industry and the Coronavirus Pandemic

The accounting is known of its gradual evolution. The industry most recent challenge was the adoption of the massive tax reform effective in 2018. Professionals were still grappling with the changes when COVID-19 struck on a global scale. The pandemic caused major disruptions as lives were lost, businesses shutter, countries locked down, and in a blink, the world came to a standstill. The adverse effects of the pandemic forced businesses to adjust from close interactions to social distancing and virtual existence. Accounting industry that relied heavily on paper based, face to face interactive delivery had to adjust quickly to other options. Thus, creating a reality where accountants are witnessing as much innovation within months as there where in prior years.
My presentation seeks to highlight the effects of the Coronavirus 19 Pandemic of 2020 on the accounting industry in general and on its stakeholders in particular? What had to change, how quickly and effective were those changes? And how the industry should prepare to deal with major disasters in the future.
