Beyond Coordination and Systems:Management Controls at an Amusement Park

Abstract

Management controls play a vital role in the success of an organization. In this paper we discuss how Calaway Park applies the model proposed by Herath to the organization’s management control system (Williams & Herath, 2001). The proposition of a new control is introduced in the discussion; the role that an organization plays in society. Calaway Park’s focus on gaining a competitive advantage within the service industry, and growing the organization is possible due to their use of management controls.
