After the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia on November 18, 1918, various state institutions were established, including in the field of legislation and security. One of them was the Military Court of the Latvian Army (at that time – the Field Military Court), created on February 13, 1919 by order of the Minister of Defense Jānis Zālītis.
This has become not only an important place for the consideration of offenses by military personnel, but at the same time crimes committed by civilians on the territory of Latvia during the High security regime, including cases related to criminal gangs (A. Kaupēns, L. Adomaitis etc.). The aim of the report is to use the Latvian State Historical Archive etc. materials outlining the most important aspects of the activities of the Military Court of Latvian Army from 1919 to 1927.
