The paper introduces a specific interdisciplinary approach to studying cultural and cognitive phenomena using language material. Instead of traditional descriptions of separate language or cultural concepts, this approach revolves around describing the whole conceptual field - a macro-unity that consists of interconnected concepts that mutually affect each other and share at least one common attribute. Within the paper, specifics and possible advantages and disadvantages of the methodology are described, and the use of main terms is explained. To bring a clear prospect, preliminary results of the Latvian culturally important conceptual field ‘baznīca’ (‘the church’) analysis are shared, therefore proving new methodology efficiency for better understanding of culture and language peculiarities and, at the same time, for contributing to dialogue and more strong connections between cultures.
