The contribution focuses on the crisis symptoms of the Soviet system in the Baltic republics in 1968. It focuses on the penetration of Western influences and ideas of reforming socialism and its humanization in the Soviet Baltic republics.
In the second part, the author compares how the party leadership in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania reacted; compares the Soviet general conditions and the similarities and differences of the ideological campaign in the Soviet republics.
The article summarizes the results of a multi-year grant of an international research team under the auspices of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
