This paper looks at attendance patterns of Indonesian political elite at high society wedding receptions. Working with data derived from media reports, it constructs what is known in the literature as “co-affiliation networks” with social network analysis software. Who are the most connected elites according to this data? To what extent can the results be used as proxy indicators of an elite’s social capital? What insights can such network visualisations bring to an understanding of Indonesia’s informal networks of political power?
