Development of an Instructional Designer Competency Model for Online Higher Education: a Case Study

Short Description

This study investigates the instructional design (ID) competencies essential for the context of online higher education. Using IBSTPI’s validated ID competency standards as a conceptual model, we conducted a case study at an ID unit in a research university to identify and compare ID competencies valued at both organizational and individual levels. Based on the empirical findings, an ID competency model is developed that can be used to improve online ID performance in practice.
