SAVE science, Situated Assessment using Virtual Environments for science content and inquiry, is investigating the use of virtual environments for assessing science learning with a more accurate reflection of scientific complexity than current tests allow. In this session, we will present the design of the assessment module, Basketball Trouble, and describe results of data-mining analyses focused on evaluating the validity of the module for predicting student understanding of gas laws as assessed in the module.
