Peer assessment has been widely implemented in higher education. However, few studies have examined students’ engagement in peer assessment in a qualitative way. An in-depth understanding of students’ engagement in peer assessment can provide instructors with insights into how and why students are engaged. In this study, in-depth interviews were conducted to explore college students’ engagement in peer assessment. Students’ behavioral engagement, emotional engagement, and cognitive engagement in peer assessment, as well as why they were engaged, were examined.
