The purpose of this paper is to discuss designing the instructional practice of a blended station-rotation environment for high school classrooms that enables students to rotate in well-structured groups and incorporates technology use in daily activities. The environment focuses on student engagement, self-determination theory, and social cognitive theory. This blended learning format has potential to promote self-regulation and intrinsic motivation in students, and provide teachers with a viable alternative to traditional instruction.
