Reframing the Digital Divide within a 'Flat World' Context

Short Description

This paper employs various theoretical lenses to reframe the nature and ramifications of the Digital Divide, which remains a pressing sociocultural issue within our diverse society even as technological advances, globalization and other developments are rendering digital media technologies nearly ubiquitous. In tackling the Divide, the paper suggests a twin-pronged approach consisting of a voluntary dismantling of existing sociocultural privilege systems coupled with overcoming resistance through the widespread, systemic introduction of culturally responsive technology instruction.
