The experiment was a 3 Video Speeds x 2 Caption factorial with learner comprehension and satisfaction as the dependent measures. Four hundred research participants were recruited from two public southeastern universities in the U.S. Preliminary results showed statistically significant differences at 1.5 times the normal video speed. Captions did not have a significant positive effect on learner comprehension, nor learner satisfaction. Participants in the normal and moderate video speed were significantly more satisfied.
