Veterinary students are expected to perform like an expert upon their graduation (Gopinath et al., 2012; Schull et al., 2011). To enhance veterinary medicine students’ clinical problem-solving skills, a case-based e-learning module with authentic medical cases has been developed based on the cognitive apprenticeship model (Collins et al., 1991). In order to improve the initial design, we have reanalyzed our design-decisions from a perspective of scaffolding. A comprehensive literature review on scaffolding has allowed to isolate effective scaffolding methods and to make further design recommendation.
