From the Ground Up: A Comprehensive Theoretical Framework of Computer-based Scaffolding

Fri, Nov 7, 10:30 to 11:30am, 2nd Level, Grand 7

Short Description

Scaffolding was originally defined as the temporary assistance given to students to help them succeed at a task beyond their unassisted capability. As the scaffolding metaphor was applied to computer technologies, emerging forms of scaffolding left the original definition and subsequent theoretical frameworks unable to keep up with the evolution. This study is a grounded theoretical analysis of existing empirical scaffolding interventions resulting in a more comprehensive theoretical framework for computer-based scaffolding in STEM education.
