Short Description

The “Social Perceptions in Learning Contexts Instrument (SPLCI)” (masked, 2012) a research tool evaluating social connectedness online is based on the “E-mmediacy” framework defined as feelings of social connectedness one has with fellow online participants (classmates, instructor, teaching assistant) through technology-mediated experiences that simulate episodic perception of immediacy. Strong validity and reliability evidence of the SPLCI warranted further exploration of its three-construct model. Confirmatory factor analysis data, instrument items, and scoring procedures will be presented.
