With the potential to redefine education, MOOCs have undergone expansive development as a disruptive innovation throughout the world, including China. While MOOCs provide free cutting-edge courses and potentially disrupt existing models of Chinese higher education, cultural awareness and policy conflicts inevitably influence adoption and expansion of the innovation. The research showcases a qualitative study examining Chinese learners’ perceptions of MOOCs as a disruptive innovation and hopefully provide suggestions concerning MOOCs learners, policy, and course design.
