P16 DDL: Uncover online learners’ cognitive presence in their self-directed design inquiry

Short Description

This study investigated online learners’ cognitive presence in their self-directed instructional design inquiry. 151 reflection journal entries from 8 students were analyzed using content analysis method. Four significantly different phases of learners’ cognitive presence were identified, and generally exploration was the dominant phase. Also, the four phases of cognitive presence, during online learning, were more or less dominant at different times in their design inquiry.
