This presentation shares analysis of two MOOCs that showed, though course designers of MOOCs might be aware of the diverse populations enrolled, it becomes difficult to not use metaphors in course materials as metaphors are embedded in our speech and, thus, overwhelm course materials. This presentation aims to report results and open a dialogue how such a problem can be addressed and what educators can do to guarantee course materials are accessible to all learners.
