Significant changes have been occurring in learning theory and instructional theory since the publication of Volume III of Instructional-Design Theories and Models. Therefore, the purpose of Volume IV is to provide descriptions of current, evolving, and emerging instructional theories. This presentation provides a preview of the chapters in Volume IV, which are collected into three primary sections: blending the nature of instruction, engaging students in learner-centered instruction, and expanding access to educational opportunities.
