A Study on the Quality of Online Discussion in Arduino Chinese Community

Short Description

From the perspective of cognitive presence, this study explored the discussion quality in Arduino Chinese Community under the guidance of Garrison’s framework (2003). Discussion topic, interactive participation and discussion depth were analyzed to reflect the quality of discussion by content analysis method. The results showed that interactive participation was low at the individual level and the discussion was weak in “Integration” and “Resolution”. The participants shared and exchanged more information in the topics on Experimental Course, while they had a deeper discussion on Creative Project. By revealing the status of online discussion in Arduino Chinese Community, this study hoped to provide guidance for optimizing the discussing environment of online maker community in China.
