A simple Internet search reveals professional implications that have resulted from educators’ social media (SM) usage perceived as missteps. Using an impression construction lens, we considered cases of educators’ SM missteps as perceived by stakeholders and presented in news media. We provide a description of what is perceived as inappropriate teacher SM use and offer areas for teacher educators to consider as they have opportunities to facilitate effective impression construction in pre-service teachers.
