Exploring the relationship between self-directed learning (SDL) ability and behavior in learning 3D design will not only promote 3D design learning process and outcomes, but also enhance SDL ability. The results show that students in the self-directed 3D design class have relatively high SDL ability. There are significant differences in 3D design learning behaviors between high-level SDL students and low-level SDL students. Students' SDL ability positively correlates with the score of 3D works.
