This presentation synthesizes the roles, competencies, and tasks of online faculty articulated in distance education research with well-established techniques in human resources literature to show participants how to conduct and use job analysis as the foundation for the effective selection of online faculty. Participants will leave with practical and specific tools that administrators, staff, and faculty can use in institutionally responsive ways to strengthen their practices in hiring faculty for online teaching.
