This study uses Diffusion of Innovation theory to explore school librarians’ use of social media as an advocacy tool. Qualitative methods are used to understand the perceptions of those who are using social media for advocacy and those who are not. Systemic factors are explored as well as factors intrinsic to the individual. Results of this study will help school administrators support advocacy efforts among school librarians through professional development and social media use policy.
