Technology development has great changed practice of instructional design. A group of graduate students from state university in the Southwest USA explored the current practice of and preferred competencies by experienced instructional designers. This poster proposal shares the findings on (1) definitions of instructional design (ID), (2) different responsibilities of instructional designers at K-12, higher education, and corporate settings, (3) preferred ID competencies, and (4) challenges and strategies they use to deal meet those challenges.
