The Influence of Cultural Situatedness on Identity - Implications for Instructional Design

Sat, Nov 7, 3:00 to 4:15pm EST (3:00 to 4:15pm EST), Virtual AECT, Grand5

Short Description

This study examines how cultural situatedness and contextual factors influence the development of identity. This is explored from the perspectives of individuals from very diverse cultures. Through the experiences of these individuals we attempt to understand the intersection between cognitive norms, structural privilege, and situated identities. We also explore issues of privilege and dominant culture, systemic oppression, and communities of practice. The implications of this study for the field of instructional design are also considered.
