Due to increased educational data from different sources in educational institutions, Educational Data Literacy becomes a key competence for teachers. This study provides an introduction to the concept of Educational Data Literacy (EDL) and examines differences between pre-service teachers and in-service teachers regarding their EDL. The N = 848 participants perceive themselves as capable of dealing with educational data related topics and tasks. In the future, educational data will play an even more important role and it will be necessary for all stakeholders to include EDL into the qualification and training of teachers.
