Sat, Nov 7, 1:00 to 1:45pm EST (1:00 to 1:45pm EST), Virtual AECT, Grand4

Short Description

This meta-analysis aims to investigate the effect of using social network sites (e.g., Facebook, Twitter) for educational purposes on students’ affective outcomes (i.e., perceived learning and satisfaction) by systematically combining quantitative results. Nine studies were identified that investigated affective outcomes. Preliminary analysis shows a small summary effect Hedges’ g=0.24 on student satisfaction and a moderate effect of SNS use on perceived learning Hedges’ g=0.40. Suggestions for practitioners and instructors are given.
