Conceptualizing Instructor Servant Leadership Behaviors in Higher Education Online Learning

Fri, Nov 6, 10:30 to 11:45am EST (10:30 to 11:45am EST), Virtual AECT, Grand4

Short Description

Instructional leadership is necessary for effective online learning, yet few studies have investigated instructor leadership through a lens of leadership theory. This study conceptualizes a servant leadership model of a Community of Inquiry. Reporting on the first phase of the mixed methods study, student and instructor perceptions of servant leadership are analyzed, and student satisfaction is correlated with instructor servant leadership. The study offers pedagogical insights to inform effective practice for instructors, designers, and trainers.
