The STEM Faculty Institute (STEMFI): Strategies for Teaching Faculty to Incorporate Active Learning Strategies

Mon, Nov 2, 3:00 to 4:15pm EST (3:00 to 4:15pm EST), Virtual AECT, Grand6

Short Description

Retention and effective preparation for STEM students is a growing concern. In response, our research group created the STEM Faculty Institute (STEMFI), which seeks to improve teaching by promoting evidence-based instructional practices (EBIPs). EBIPs are shown to improve student achievement, scientific reasoning skills, and interest. Our team also developed the Ecological Model of STEM Faculty Instructional Decision-making, which helps identify and address barriers that prevent faculty pedagogical changes.
