Short Description

Faculty and practitioners from 6 instructional design programs have collaborated to discuss how non-instructional interventions are essential to support the sustainability of design efforts in a variety of situations. All panelists have instructional design experience in industry and higher education and hold advanced degrees in the field. The panel will discuss the challenges that many instructional designers face implementing projects and how non-instructional interventions have provided a supportive infrastructure. They will also discuss the need for instructional design programs to advocate for instruction focusing on the design and development of non-instructional interventions to prepare instructional designers for real-world practice.
