College Students’ Computational Thinking During the Mobile App Programing Process

Wed, Nov 4, 10:30 to 11:45am EST (10:30 to 11:45am EST), Virtual AECT, Grand5

Short Description

In this study, we examined college students’ use of computational thinking through mobile app coding activities in a college-level elective course. The computational concepts of sequence, loops, parallelism, events, conditionals, operators are found in the codes of all five student-created apps. Computational practices such as problem analysis, communicating and collaborating are also evidenced in the problem-solving processes and artifacts. We will present specific visual programming block-codes as examples to showcase students’ CT during the presentation.
