Short Description

This session will discuss a study which examined the role that training had on the quality of a learner created self-explanation, when combined with worked examples. Participants included college-level underprepared mathematical learners in a corequisite course. Mathematical attitudes during the intervention will also be discussed. Embracing this year’s theme – Towards Culturally-situated Learning Design and Research, the presentation will review the results as well as how the intervention was conducted within a culturally varied student population.
