Visual Design as a Holistic Experience: How Students Engage with Instructional Materials of Various Visual Designs

Sat, Nov 7, 4:30 to 5:45pm EST (4:30 to 5:45pm EST), Virtual AECT, City3

Short Description

Although most visual design studies focus on single visual elements to control for confounding variables, every instructional material consists of multiple visual design elements, with a synergy between those elements. Furthermore, each student brings a different background and cultural value to the materials, which impacts how they perceive the visual design of them. This study explored the complex phenomenon of how students’ visual perceptions are formed, by utilizing Giorgi’s (2012) descriptive phenomenological psychological method.
