This proposal aims to understand the practices of Brazilian teachers during in-service professional development. The research involves 52 teachers from Baixada Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The analysis of teachers’ micronarratives in Google My Maps and reflections evidence their sense of belonging to the city, commitment to the collective cultural richness and the need to (re) learn how to reinvent the city that transforms its citizens. Their initial cultural perception that “nothing ever happens here” city gains new meaning as a result of the use of Google My Maps.
