Institutional Presence: Building A Learning Community Beyond The Online Course

Short Description

Online learners often feel isolated given their physical separation from peers and the institution. Efforts often focus on developing a learning community within individual courses to address this issue. This presentation argues “institutional presence,” namely the interconnection between the online learners and the institution, should also be part of the solution. Examples of how institutional presence can be implemented in online courses will be demonstrated in this presentation.
