Thu, Nov 5, 10:30 to 11:45am EST (10:30 to 11:45am EST), Virtual AECT, Grand4

Short Description

This qualitative study examined learners’ self-directed learning (SDL) strategies and experience in MOOCs. The data sources of this study are 15 semi-structured interviews. The results indicated that MOOC learners were motivated by both intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. They monitored their learning process through using self-assessment, digging into further information, using mind-maps, finding patterns, and taking notes. The MOOC learners manage their time though scheduling certain time for study and working with flexible deadlines.
