It’s a match-up of epic proportions. In one corner, faculty want to discover and adopt effective and engaging online teaching practices. In the other corner, current students have specific expectations of engagement in an online course. How do we reconcile these two perspectives to improve online instructional practices? This study surveyed 16 faculty and 116 students to reconcile what faculty think they do with what students experience to provide insight into what a professional development program might target.
