Multimedia environments foster emerging self-regulatory skills critical for knowledge acquisition. We examined the relationship between performance and prompted metacognitive judgments in a multimedia learning environment about human body systems. Results indicate that ease of learning (EOL) judgments can predict how much time is spent fixating on content. Additionally, less accurate judgments were more likely to result in poor performance, suggesting embedded metacognitive judgments can be used to predict not only performance-based metrics but also behaviors.
