Short Description

The concurrent presentation examines the growth of visual literacy scholarship amidst a rapidly changing environment driven by current and emerging digital tools and applications. Using the content of the last five International Visual Literacy Association annual conference programs (2015-2019), the researcher will conduct a content analysis to determine the directions of visual literacy research. Based on the findings, the researcher will present and engage the participants in discussing the role of visuals or media-based images in facilitating learning as well as decision-making in diverse contexts in 21st century contexts. Finally, the researcher will outline an action plan for interested scholars and practitioners in supporting future inquiries on visual literacy in digital settings.
