This proposed poster will present pilot research completed by the author to identify the impacts of using a transition plan job aid to complete individualized transition plans for high school students with disabilities. The poster will include a literature review of special education law (i.e. transition services expanded), teacher perceptions of efficacy for providing transition services (i.e. report low experience), self-determination for students with disabilities (i.e. impacts participation), and job aides to support successful completion of complex tasks (i.e. transition planning). Data was collected with an author developed a rubric, and analysis indicated increased student responses and participation related to transition planning. Future research is needed to determine if transition plan job aid used by special educators supports teacher efficacy and student self-advocacy. This research was completed with IRB approval from Old Dominion University.
